In 1996 the Pittsburgh based optics company, Buhl Optical, was acquired by Navitar, Inc., a leading manufacturer of superior quality optical lenses and complete customized optical solutions for the LCD & DLP projection and Machine Vision markets. After the acquisition, Navitar immediately began offering Buhl LCD projection lenses to its customers.

Over the years, Navitar reworked and redesigned the entire line of lenses, dramatically improving the overall quality and performance. According to Navitar President, Julian Goldstein, “The changes were so significant the lenses were simply no longer Buhl lenses.” In June 2005 the Buhl projection lens product line was renamed NuView projection lenses to reflect the completely redesigned, superior quality of the Navitar projection lens line. All part numbers, price structures, and warranties remain the same.

Navitar NuView projection lenses are available for most projector brands on the market today. Navitar is proud to continue to offer custom Buhl lenses for military and other applications.
