Navitar Redesigns and Launches NuView Replacement Projection Lenses
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – May 31, 2005 – Navitar, Inc, the leading provider of replacement
lenses to the LCD and DLP projection markets, announced today the launch of
its NuView replacement projection lens series. The NuView projection lenses
replace the existing brand of Buhl projection lenses. The Buhl brand name has
been retired after 75 years of leadership in the AV industry. The NuView lens
line incorporates innumerable hours of engineering redesign work to dramatically
improve the overall quality and performance above that of its predecessor.
The inspiration for the NuView line of lenses came from customers requesting better
quality and performance from the existing Buhl lenses, recalls President Julian
Goldstein. “When Buhl Optical initially became a Navitar company in 1996, we
knew the product was a winner, but also knew we could greatly improve the lenses
incorporating over 35 years of Navitar optical expertise. We knew the result
would be an impressive product. And that is exactly what we have accomplished.
The Navitar Engineering team has outdone itself. The changes were so significant
the lenses simply are no longer Buhl lenses. The transition to new product has
been ongoing over the past few years. The NuView Lenses are in an entirely different
class and it is only fitting to rename and re-launch the product line.”
Heavily involved in the engineering redesign, Pat Bonafede at Navitar says,
“The optical and mechanical changes are impressive. We’ve completely redesigned
the mechanics, incorporated new multi layer high-efficiency glass coatings,
and manufactured the line to perform to a tighter tolerance. Increased light
throughput, higher contrast level, sharper overall image, and a smoother mechanical
operation are among the improvements our customers will experience. The coming
months will see the introduction of many new 0.8:1 ratio wide angle lenses across
the entire product line as well as new long throw zoom lenses for larger formats
including 1.8, 1.65 and 1.4”. We are proud of the advances.”
