All equipment produced at Navitar, Inc., excluding lighting, is compliant with
Directive 2002/95/EC.
Paragraph 1, Article 2 of the RoHS directive dictates that categories 1-7 and
10 to Annex IA of the WEEE directive be controlled by the RoHS directive. In-depth
review of these categories places equipment produced at Navitar (excluding Lighting
equipment) into category 9 therefore exempting the requirements for RoHS control.
Category 9 of the WEEE directive includes Monitoring and Control Instruments
used for “measuring, weighing or adjusting appliances for household or
as laboratory equipment”.
The Lighting products fall into category 5 thus requiring control per the RoHS
directive. Category 5 includes Lighting Equipment including “Luminaries
for fluorescent lamps with the exception of luminaries in households”,
“Straight fluorescent lamps” and “other lighting or equipment
for the purpose of spreading or controlling light with the exception of filament
bulbs”. As such, Navitar, Inc. is taking great care to ensure that all
lighting products meet the requirements of the RoHS directive. At this time,
we are still having some difficulty with the procurement of RoHS compliant discreet
parts (primarily ballasts); however, we are working diligently to rectify this
situation. As these products become RoHS compliant, marking and identification
as well as documentation will be updated to support the compliance.
Navitar, Inc. is an environment friendly company. As such, although our non-lighting
products fall into Category 9 of Annex IA, we are reviewing all existing products
and will design and produce future products, regardless of primary function,
with environmentally friendly guidelines. Components with levels of banned substances
(Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, PBB & PBDB) in excess of the
RoHS / WEEE directive will not be specified or used in production.
Information regarding RoHS compliant products and the expected date of compliance
